Lucky are those women who are blessed with the long and fluttery natural eyelashes.

Well if you are not among those fortunate women and have to put on coats of mascara to even get close to that perfect lashes, don’t get disappointed!

You can get the fuller, thicker, and natural-looking lashes by using either false lashes or eyelash extensions.

Although they can give you outstanding results, there exists a huge line of difference between the two.

And this blog will discuss that which will help you decide which one is more suitable:

  • Application

You can apply false lashes onto your eyes by yourself. All it takes is a little practice to master the application of fake lashes. The entire process roughly takes around 10 minutes.

All you have to do is:

  • Dab a small amount of glue at the back of the lashes
  • Place it onto or slightly above your natural lash
  • Gently press the falsies against real ones
  • It’s done

On the other hand, lash extensions can only be applied by a lash specialist.

Unlike false lashes, eyelash extensions are placed one by one strand onto your real lashes. The whole process can take up to 2 hours, which is a good time to sit back and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee.

2. Cost

You can find the false lashes almost at any beauty store, salon, and even online.

Depending on the quality and type you need, they can cost you between $5 to $30.

Contrary to this, eyelash extensions are expensive as they are manufactured from high-quality materials. The cost can range anywhere between $200 to $500.

But if you want to get lashes for a longer period, lash extensions can be a more cost-effective option than false lashes as you won’t need to buy a new pair of falsies for everyday use.

  1. Weight

False lashes are made of a poor and artificial material that can be heavy on your existing lashes.  A band of fake lashes on your eyelid can disturb the natural look of your eyes.

In comparison, eyelash extensions are lighter in weight and look similar to human hair. Hence, you may not even feel like you are using them on your real lashes.

4. Maintenance

False eyelashes are a temporary fix to achieve a bold and thicker lash line. They are not used for a long period and even don’t require adequate care and maintenance.

On the other hand, eyelash extensions are used for an extended time period and require more care to maintain their natural-looking shine

For instance, while wearing lash extensions, avoid using oil-containing beauty products as these can permanently damage your natural lashes. Also, do not vigorously rub your eyes for a day or two.

It’s also necessary to visit a salon every 2 – 3 weeks to ensure that eyelash extensions are well intact and do not have developed any space between the hair strands.

5. Durability

False lashes should be thrown after a single application as repeated use can cause you an eye infection.

Even the reusable ones can only be used a few times only.

However, eyelash extensions are more durable and can last up to one year if refilled periodically.

6. Appearance

As the name implies, false lashes look fake and unnatural as these are made from poor quality material.

While eyelash extensions almost look natural as these are made from human or animal hair and other high-quality materials that give an authentic look to your eyes.

Which is better?

Honestly, both options are recommended to get beautiful and fluttery eyelashes.

If you don’t want to worry about your eye makeup every morning and before evening parties, eyelash extensions are the best choice.

On the other side, false lashes are easier to apply and maintain and can give you a glam look in no time.

However, it still depends on your requirements, preference, and budget. Do let us know about your experience.
