Kenya Barris, creator of black-ish, is now firmly entrenched around at Netflix, and his very first scripted collection for the streamer is the upcoming comedy series #blackAF, the initial trailer for which was discovered Thursday. Loosely influenced by Barris’ irreverent, flawed, and straightforward technique to parenting, interactions and race,#blackAF doubles down on Barris’ DGAF interesting-father persona, and in the clip, we see a messy, unfiltered “new income” black family members making an attempt to get it appropriate. In the sequence, Barris, building his Television acting debut, plays a fictionalized version of himself who is evidently loaded, with Rashida Jones playing his equally fly, similarly straight-capturing wife Joya.
Together, they parent five kids (played by Genneya Walton, Iman Benson, Justin Claiborne, Ravi Cabot-Conyers, and Richard Gardenhire Jr.), buck up with other people in the community and usually look to have way extra fun than absolutely everyone else. If that seems acquainted, it is: from the appears of it, we can think of #blackAF as black-ish with way additional swag — a very persuasive motive to stream without a doubt. #blackAF debuts on Netflix on Friday, April 17.
